What is your stance on abortion?

Abortion is a medical procedure resulting in the termination of a human pregnancy and death of a fetus. Abortion was banned in 30 states until the 1973 Supreme Court decision Roe v. Wade. The ruling made abortion legal in all 50 states but gave them regulatory powers over when abortions could be performed during a pregnancy. Currently, all states must allow abortions early in pregnancies but may ban them in later trimesters.

Voters in seven states approved ballot amendments establishing a right to abortion in their state constitutions, continuing a broad repudiation of the abortion bans enacted since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.Missouri, which was the first state to officially enact an abortion ban after Roe was overturned in 2022, became the first state where voters ended a ban at the ballot box, with 52 percent approving the measure. A similar amendment passed by 57 percent in Montana, another Republican-controlled state. President Volodymyr Zelenskiy unveiled his much anticipated "Victory Plan" at Ukraine's parliament on Wednesday, urging his war-weary country to stay united at a precarious time ahead of its key U.S. ally's Nov. 5 presidential election.As Russian troops advance in the east and a bleak winter of power shortages looms, he told lawmakers his plan contained five main points that relied on Kyiv's allies, including an unconditional invite to join NATO and specific weapons support."Together with our partners, we must change the circumstances so that the war ends. Regardless of what Putin wants. We must all change the circumstances so that Russia is forced to peace," he told lawmakers and top officials.His third point emphasised the need for Ukraine to acquire a non-nuclear deterrence capacity that he said would be enough to destroy Russian military power.
